Now, I am free to be, all that I am. The power to move mountains, space and time cannot decide what’s mine. Within the mind, is a place where strength beyond strength lies. Containing this force, breath inside, no place to hide now that I can unearth the power of an unlocked mind. Secrets of an ancient sort.
No more a terrible waste of life.
Realize the potential within, and unlock realities undreamt of by lesser minds.
Allow yourself to be lead inside to a new beginning.
Shaking with anxiety and lack of sleep, told of lucid dreams and meditation techniques, nearly turned away in disbelief.
“I’m nothing but a waste of human life, barely more than a parasite on this society with nothing to show for this abomination of genetic material.”
“NO!”
"Relax in silence, alone and undisturbed, sit in comfort but do not lounge.
Let thought roam free but remain perfectly still.
Now silence all thought, banish worry, care, fear, and doubt from all that is you. Mentally determine to calm your being, relax your bones.
Remain in this state until you feel at peace with yourself and the world."

On The Path

Between tosses and turns I make my way through the tunnel, past lights and figures both haunting and illusory. This is my turn, to become what I am.
Unlimited potential paired with fearless execution.
I emerge from my sleeplessness to encounter a large forest, wet with rain past and threatening more to come. There's a man at the foot of a clearing, old with dark eyes beckoning.
"Yes, that's right, we know who you are. No need for introductions here."
Step into the clearing, calm washed over him as if leaving himself behind.
"Within you shall find what you are, hopefully you are what you wish to be."
Deep breath in and march toward the Mountain.
Hours seemed to pass, idle thoughts turn to old arguments, arguments triggering old memories, amidst screams heard in the trees. Desires thought long-gone of a future long rotted away pressed deep into the air giving way to nervousness and fidgeting. Horrifying figures dining on the remains of forest creatures. Humanoids engaged in sexual acts barely human, often evocative and always disturbing.
This was too much, he could feel himself shaking out, waking up. Remember that this is just a dream.
Force yourself awake, but NO, I must see what can be seen.
Plunging through sight and smell, arriving at a pool, menacing and thick.
Creatures lurking deep within, one more trial on the path to salvation.
Devoid of pattern or regularity, multi-armed creatures moved through the fluid. Beyond this pool, an arrow points to a small house far off in the distance.
More walking, more time, more rain, more sick twisted invasions.
"I suppose you're here to see me."
A woman’s voice shimmering in that dreamlike way.
Caught by surprise, more introductions and pointing toward that structure still so far away.
"Oh no, my house? That's not for you, not yet."
Confusion must have set his face.
"Alright, let’s get this started."
Clap of a hand and the world became solid.

The Trials

Another world, the last one leaving nothing but a faint trace of something won, something earned. Footsteps echoed through a dampening corridor.
"We've been watching you your entire life, waiting for this moment. We've prepared a program for your improvement. You will be presented with moments of your life in which you must face some long-hidden fear. Failure will result in repetition until you successfully act out of power. But keep in mind this may be a dream but this is still real-time.
So be steadfast, your life will depend on it. Proceed."
The news came out today, "Social outcast taken into custody".
“No! This can't be real!”
Everything passes as a blur.
Abruptly apprehended, thrown face down.
"What do you have to say for yourself?"
"I was trying to take some control in my life."
"And that is exactly why we’re here today."
Electricity shot through his head. Awoken with a gasp, laying in bed.
"So that’s what you've got tangled up in there"
A hand pressed into his mind brought back the darkness of sleep.
A clearly ancient library, where do I know this from? Feel like I've done this all before, but what do I do now? A scream heard in the distance compels me to run through these halls, books flying off the shelves, knocking into my arms and chest.
I find the source of screaming, the man at the forest clearing, and the woman in a cage, I have to save her, but how?
The man attacks me with a blade, I cannot defend myself, I need something, listening to my intrusive thinking,
"BREATHE!"
I hear her scream, suddenly I remember what to do. I grab the book, open it and throw it at his head. In one act bleeding on the floor, run to the cage, break the lock with my bare hands, grab her in embrace, and the world grows black.
Candles illuminate the table.
She sits across from him, he's thinking "Where the hell am I?"
"Relax," she says, "you won years ago, you are now complete.
No need to remember the past, our past."
She's shimmering, like a dream brought into real life. Confusion must've came across his face.
"You're not dreaming, this is real.”
Beyond confused, bombarded with memories of prior attacks of confusion.
Takes a deep breath, of smoke?
Burning his nose and mouth.
"Are you alright?" Full of concern, she hands him water.
The water burns even more, and he spits out flame.
Malevolent now, gripping his hand, setting him on fire.
Fire in her eyes.
"Now you are truly mine"
And the fires enveloped him...

Close Encounters

Months pass of taking on this new course of action. Life has exploded in power and production.
No more a blight, I've seen the light!
It is incredible how powerful an idea can become in your imagination if you feed it.
Once a powerless shell, stuck in this living hell. Those days are a thing of the past. Recognition and success at last.This creature of my thoughts has shown me a new light.
Uncover hidden worlds.
Untangle the knots in your mind.
And who of all people to encounter:
The woman of these dreams, made flesh in front of me.
Acted foolishly, expecting her to see. Nevertheless, becoming close, becoming one, none to oppose.
And now that she is real, there's none else to reveal. I've built my reality, no more need for these fantasies.
Got what I want, no more need for those dreams
Awoken amidst a dream, in a strange but familiar place.
"Where have you been, you think you can desert me? After all I've given you, you're nothing without me."
Thinking this was just an exercise, in unlocking unknown resources he has awoken something far beyond his control!

"Where have you been? You think you can desert me? Forgetting all I’ve given you, you are nothing without me.”
The darkness of the room matched the darkness of her tone. The ground began to rumble. Time was running low.
Stepping out of her misty void, each step producing crackles in what seemed like his reality.
“You know me like no one else could! We've shared so much.”
This plea was no good, she advanced, and the room shook.
"What you mean to say is that our borders are illusion. Accept this simple truth and eliminate this confusion”
"Yes I understand, so distinct and yet so united, but you’ve never brought me to you uninvited."
Awoken, out of breath, in a panic. Labored tunnel vision met the figure of the woman in his dreams, deep in sleep.
Was there any possibility of escaping this vicious cycle?
“Goodbye, for now”
She waved her hand, and the light began to dim.
"It doesn't seem like I have control anymore."
"Do you really think you've ever had control?"
And the fires enveloped him.

Much time has passed and our main character has pushed away those daemons of his soul who seek him through the night. But has he learned the lesson of abandoning the greater powers lurking deep within his mind? The answer is plain to see.
...and as the days continue on, lapses in his memory and confusion of his senses.
Reality has warped beyond what’s possible, there's something wrong.
"Strength and power can flow through you, if you give me what you got. But you've angered me with negligence and now you must pay the price.
Say goodbye to the vast expanse of strength you once had with me."
"I am slowly choking you from the inside. Can you feel the blood drain from your brain and eyes? Give me time and you will die a slow and painful death of psychological decline. And so where's your little mistress now? I’m sure that she could save you, somehow… From the power that I possess to utterly destroy you."

It's high time I make things right. Things cannot go on like this for any longer. Sleepless nights eating away at my sanity like rats and mice.
Resigned to get to the bottom of this quandary. Plunge yet again into that familiar mystery.
Spinning backwards through the passages, coming to the door earmarked in mind for easy access.
"This ends now, I'm sorry I’ve neglected you, you are all I have."
"You look terrible, but I suppose you've endured enough punishment from me, come, let us recommence.”
“Feel the glow, the shimmer, the radiance, the Power Beyond Power. Here exists a vast expanse, and within can be accomplished the impossible.”
“Punishment endured? Since when can you dole out punishment? This was an exercise, nothing more.”
More haunting laughter, and echoes filling up the room, and the smell of rot descended. The smell of something very wrong.
"You should have thought about what you were meddling with. When you sought the power of your own mind, you've awoken giants. But if you truly are ashamed of your mental neglect, come with me, and be welcomed back into loving arms."
“Feel the glow, the shimmer, the radiance, the Power Beyond Power. Here exists a vast expanse, and within can be accomplished the impossible.
But I only gave this to you as a reward, and I can just as easily snatch it back.
Remember, just remember, that wherever there is suffering and pain, that is where I will be, to separate you from yourself and blind you in Chaos."
